Thai Actor Stars in Philippine Indie Film!

ANANDA EVERINGHAM

Thai Actor Ananda Everingham joins Luis Alandy and Zanjoe Marudo in the Cinemalaya filmfest entry “Kalayaan.”

What can he says about his experience filming here in the Philippines and what can he says about filipinos? What the film all about?

Check out the premiere date of Cinemalaya films below!

In the latest celebrity update, the lead actor of 2004 horror film “Shutter” Ananda Everingham is here in the Philippines and shared his experience about shooting Adolfo Alix Jr.’s Cinemalaya Director Showcase entry, “Kalayaan’ at the 8th Cinemelaya press conference at the CCP main Theater last June 28, 2012.

In fact, Ananda is about famous in Thailand as Piolo Pascual is in the Philippines.

“I had a great time. It’s a beautiful place,” he said.

Furthermore, he flew from Thailand and stayed in Palawan for just 10 days to finish the film. Many times in his interview, he always mentioned how he thinks Filipinos work harder at shoots, where they would stay for as long as 16 to 18 hours at a time.

“I think that it was especially intense being that we had a small window (of time) to shoot,” he said.

This is the first time he film in the country however this is the second time here in the Philippines. He was been here in 2012 when he promoted the Thai superhero movie “ Red Eagle” at that year’s edition of the Cinemanila International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Ananda plays Julian, a soldier whose three-month service in Spratly’s’ Kota Island has been extended until further notice, in “Kalayaan”. As he stays longer in the island, he has less and less things to do and more time to think.

“You have a certain assumption that he’s there by himself, and you see him go through routine… then you see his descent into madness, basically,” as he described his character.

Alix’s latest film is Ananda’s first project in the Philippines. He is the central character in Alix’s psychological take on the stories of the soldiers stationed in the island.

It also starring in “Kalayaan” are Zanjoe Marudo and Luis Alandy, who play soldiers stationed with Julian at some point during his extended stay.

Ananda will be back in Manila for the gala premiere of “Kalayaan” on July 24 at the CCP Main Theater.
