The Meaning And Myth Behind ‘Prometheus’

PROMETHEUS: LOGAN MARSHALL-GREEN, NOOMI REPACE
AND
MICHAEL FASSBENDER

The thriller focuses on galactic ship but also has ties to a Greek titan of the same name.

What is ‘Prometheus’ meaning? What is all about? Check out the trailer of Prometheus below!

Prometheus is a sci-fi thriller and it is a prequel to the film “Alien,”

However the moviegoers may be also wondering about the meaning of the name of ‘Prometheus’.

The story centers on a galactic ship called ‘Prometheus.’ It is made to search for the origins of humanity. Some things don’t exactly revolve out as intended: The explorers must deal with some kind of alien threat outside the ship along with reluctant and fearing he sets in with team.

Thus the space vessel and the movie named for a figure in Greek mythology?

The myth itself is like this:

“Prometheus is a Titan and it is credited with having made the human race out of clay while the name ‘Prometheus’ means “forethought,” and he was ‘very wise, wiser even than the Gods.’”

It also said that Prometheus has been punished by Zeus for his crime with an unimaginable torture, chaining him to a rock and even having an eagle eat his liver. His organ grew back at night and continuously every day then the eagle always came back to peck it out.

In the latest celebrity update, Ridley Scott movie can probably take the name of the ship to be a subtle hint of what’s to come. It’s safe to say it’s nothing good.

Meanwhile, Prometheus has been released in theatres on June 08, 2012, starring: Noomi Repace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green.
