Coco Martin Returns To Indie Genre!

The OMG! Awards Actor of the Year goes full circle as he produces his latest independent film.

Is it true that he miss making indie movies? What is the title of his independent film? Is it true that he will be going to produce his upcoming indie film? When it will be released?

In the latest celebrity update, Coco Martin has back in doing indie project ‘Santa Nina’ along with director Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Quinto Palo for the upcoming 8^th Cinemalaya Film Festival which opens on 20^th of July at the CCP Complex.

“Nung pinabasa niya sakin yung script ng ‘Santa Nina,’ nung nabasa ko na yung proyekto, hinid ko na nabitawan,” Coco shared.

Coco plays Pol, a father who finds a miracle in the accidently-unearthed body of his two-year old daughter, in Palo’s first full-length film. It was filmed in Pampanga.

“Ang tagal ko nang hi ndi gumagawa ng indie ngayon, eh Kumbaga naghahanap ako ng right project, na tamang konsepto. Nung nabasa ko sya sabi ko ‘gusto ko ‘to,’” he said.

The actor and a now producer also said that he is giving financial support to ‘Santa Nina’ and also shared that during the production of the film he would go straight from the set of ‘Walang Hanggan’ to the location in Pampanga.

“Syempre sa Cinemalaya kailangan ng funding, eh si Direk Manny Palo, naghahanap sya ng ano-so sabi ko ako na yung willing. Kasi, unang-una naniniwala ako sa proyekto. At naniniwala ako sa kanya. Ngayon sobrang excited ako na bumalik ako sa core ko, sa paggawa ng indie. Sabi ko nga, ngayon, this time, full blast ako kasi kahit wala akong tulog sa soap, dumidiretso ako sa shooting sa Pampanga para magawa yung pelikula, gusting-gusto ko sya matapos,” he points out.

The actor is still continues to hope for more opportunities like ‘Santa Nina.’

“Sa indie kasi may time na nalungkot ako, kasi feeling ko hindi na nila ako kinukuha o pinapansin. Sabi ko siguro my ibang tao na dahil nasa TV ka, iniisip nila nab aka tumaas na yung standard mo, o may budget ka na. Ako pa? Never nga ako nag-ask, kahit nagsisimula ako, ng talent fee. Basta nagustuhan ko yung proyekto, all out ako dyan. Ako pa tutulong,” he shared while laughing.
