In the latest celebrity update, Gretchen Barretto was in high spirits when spotted during the 9^th Cinemalaya awarding ceremony where her film “Diplomat Hotel” was in competition. But the actress’ mood turned sour when the media started asking about her siblings.

Gretchen responded in the negative way regarding the marriage of her estranged sister Claudine Barretto and husband Raymart Santiago.

“Bakit? Ano ang pakialam n’yo sa pamilya naming? Kung natatandaan n’yo po, itinakwil nap o ako. So in other words, wala na kayong karapatang tanungin ako tungkol sa Barretto family dahil I’m not part of the family anymore. Right now my family is Tony [her partner Tonyboy Cojuangco’ and Dominique [her daughter], Marjorie and Jayjay, and the rest of my siblings. Mahirap naming ipilit ang sarili ko sa mga ayaw sa akin,” she said.

The 43 year old actress also said that she’s now at peace after her highly-publicized rift with her mother last April 2013. It can be recalled that Mommy Inday sided with daughter Claudine over Gretchen.

“Tahimik na rin ang buhay ko. So kung nanu-notice n’yo naman po ay puro career at pamilya ko at anak ko ang pinagtutuunan ko ng pansin. That’s it. Kaya huwag na nating isali kami ni Marjorie sa mga gulong hindi naman dapat kasali pa, kasi I think I’ve learned the big lesson na lumayo na lang,” she explained.

However a member of the media covering the awards night stretched the probing a little more and asked what Gretchen’s prayer is at the moment – only to hear an answer that shocked the press.

“Bakit ko naman isi-share sa’yo [ang prayer ko]? Ikaw ba si God? You’re not God. I won’t pray to you! I will not share. I mean stop it!”

Meanwhile, Gretchen asked for respect from the press.

“You know, you have to learn how to respect people also. Respect me ‘coz ang pinagdadaanan ko hindi madali. ‘Yung pang-iinsulto sa pagkatao ko, sa kredibilidad ko, napakasakit. Alam niyo ‘yun. Hindi ko na kailangang sabihin ‘yun. Artista ko. That’s all I can give you. Huwag niyo nang [ungkatin’ ang pribado kong buhay,” she said in conclusion.
