milestone, they will release their eighth album, “In A World Like This,”
through BMG Records. The group was previously signed to Jive Records.
In fact, the title track is already out now and it is the
first single recorded with founding member Kevin Richardson since his departure
from the group in 2006.
Did you know that the album was produced by Martin Terefe,
who also produced the albums of Jason Mraz, Train and James Morrison, and
recorded in London and Los Angeles, and features co-writes with Max Martin, who
wrote and produced many of the songs that catapulted the band into superstardom
earlier in its career.
BMG also publicized that the group has signed a publishing
deal for all territories outside of Japan.
“Backstreet Boys’ new deal with BMG
represents the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ … BSB gets to own their album while at the
same time they have a real team behind the marketing and promotion of their
music,” BSB’s management team said at Prospect Park.
“Having worked with the Backstreet
Boys over 20 years ago, it is of great personal satisfaction to be working with
them again. Their careers are quite remarkable and it is probably safe to say
that they have claimed their place in history as the greatest male pop group of
all time. Moreover, these guys remain just as ambitious and passionate as the
day they started and we are so proud that they have put their trust in BMG,”
EVP creative & Business development at BMG Chrysalis North America Richard
Blackstone added.
On the other hand, Backstreet Boys is one of the biggest boy
bands of all time, they have sold over 130 million albums worldwide and scored
numerous chart-toppers including the pop-R&B ballads “I Want It That Way,”
Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely” and Quit Playing Games With My Heart.”
