Veteran actor Pen Medina’s son Alex proves that he has
acting talent in his DNA via a Cinemalaya movie.
Why Alex did say this is the last daring role he would do? What
Alex learns from his father?
Excited to know more about Alex Medina? Well, check out the
story below!
In the latest celebrity update, Alex Medina is proving that
he has acting talent in his DNA. The son of veteran actor Pen Medina and
younger brother of Ping Medina was named Best Actor at Cinema One Originals
Film Festival for the indie film “Palitan” last year.
In fact, Alex got positive feedback for his performance in
the defunct ABS-CBN teleserye “Ina, Kapatid, Anak.”
Did you know that Pen Medina plays a big role in helping his
younger son gain respect as an actor.
“Lagi niyang sinasabi na dapat may
truthfulness. Pero at this point, sabi niya, magfocus na ako talaga to enhance
pa my craft, yung artistry level,” Alex said.
The star of “My Little Juan” has come back to his indie
roots via “Babagwa,” a finalist in Cinemalaya’s New Breed category.
Alex plays an internet scammer who falls in love with the
woman he is trying to fool by using a fake Facebook profile. He also claimed
that he has a daring scene in the film, which he hopes will be his last (he
also went daring in “Palitan”).
“As much as possible, ayaw ko
munang gawin. I want to explore other characters kung pwede. Ayaw kong
ma-constrict doon sa box na showing my behind,” he explained.

Alex explains why he decided to show some skin in “Palitan.”
“First ko rin kasi iyon. And good
friend ko rin kasi si Ato Bautista (producer-director of the film). Sabi niya, ‘We’ll
do a daring scene, pero hindi lantaran. Kumbaga in context naman siya. Dito sa “Babagwa,”
in context rin at sabi naman ni direk Paul Laxamana sandal lang,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Alex wants the viewers to appreciate his acting
talent instead of showing skin.
“Gusto ko lang i-prove ang sarili
ko as an actor. Kumbaga, marami pa akong dapat gawin at matutunan. As much as
possible, gusto kong na-chachallenge, kaya I’ll take on these roles na
binibigay sa akin,” he said.
“Babagwa” also stars Alma Concepcion, Joey Paras, Nico
Antonio, Chanel Latorre, Sunshine Teodoro, Raqs Regaldo, Garry Lim, Kiko Matos
and Marx Topacio.
